WHMIS for Everyone

$25.00

From manufacturing facilities and construction sites to institutional environments and office buildings, many Canadian workers are exposed to hazardous materials on the job. To protect workers, Workplace Hazardous Information System (WHMIS) training is a regulatory component of health and safety legislation.

Note: This course references Ontario-specific legislation and regulations.

WHMIS for Everyone is designed to provide essential information for all workers in low risk occupations. It provides an introduction to WHMIS and workplace safety and explains the consumer safety identification program elements including symbols, labeling, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). In addition to developing the ability to identify potential workplace hazards, it outlines workers' basic rights and responsibilities under the health and safety legislation. This course is part of the full WHMIS training requirements and will serve as a foundation for worksite-specific training and continued training for workers in higher risk occupations.

Like all generic WHMIS training programs, this course will not meet the required workplace-specific training components of WHMIS legislation. Those requirements are different at each workplace and meeting them is the responsibility of employers and worker supervisors.
